15A NCAC 18A .1828 (a) Clean bed and bath linen, in good repair, should be provided for each guest. Observed staining on the bed mattress cover in Room 1118. Observed stained bedsheet in Room 901. Observed stained duvets in Rooms 820 and 707.

Observed room 1417 with a Knick on table surface and soiled cushion on chair next to bed, 1418 RIC at back of fridge had black substance, 706 staining on sofa cushion, 709 crack in left corner of bathroom mirror.

Observed box of ice buckets stored on the floor in the storage closet on the 14th floor. 15ANCAC 18A. 1824(k) A test kit or other device that measures the concentration in mg/L of sanitizing solutions shall be provided by the lodging establishment. Observed no test strips to test the strength of the sanitizer within facility.

15A NCAC 18A .1826(a) Handwashing sinks as required in Rule .1825 in this section shall be supplied with hand soap, and either individual, disposable towels; a continuous towel system that supplies the user with a clean towel; a heated-air hand drying device; or a hand drying device that employs an air-knife system that delivers high velocity, pressurized air at ambient temperatures. Observed no paper towels or hand drying device located at sink in laundry room.

15A NCAC 18A .1826 (h) Furnishings, bathroom fixtures, carpets, and other accessories in guest rooms, shall be kept clean and in good repair. Observed black/pink build up in caulking in showers located in rooms 1423, 1213, and 1212.

15A NCAC 18A .1826 (f) Physical facilities shall be kept clean and in good repair. Observed scuffs and peeling/chipping paint to walls located in housekeeping storage rooms throughout facility.

15A NCAC 18A .1828( c) Clean linen and supplies shall be stored in cabinets, or on shelves in linen and supply storage rooms. Observed several boxes of clean linen stored on the floor in laundry room storage/supply closet.

15A NCAC 18A .1826 (h) Furnishings, bathroom fixtures, carpets, and other accessories in guest rooms, shall be kept clean and in good repair. Observed rooms on the 7th and 8th floors with small bits of trash and debris in the seating area under couch cushions. Observed frayed upholstery on couch in seating area of room 721. Recommend thorough cleaning of couches in between occupants.

5-501.115 A storage area and enclosure for refuse, recyclables, or returnables shall be maintained free of unnecessary items and clean. Observed waste area with excess garbage around dumpster. Recommend higher frequency of cleaning to prevent rodent or insect infestations.

4-603.14* Equipment food contact surfaces and utensils shall be effectively washed to remove or completely loosen soils by using the manual or mechanical means necessary. Clean. Observed heavy black build up inside of both ice machines located within in facility(8th and 12th floor). Observed the mouth guard on water fountain located outside of fitness center with heavy black build up. Clean.

Observed the shower grout in several rooms with black residue build up (711, 719 and 724). Observed staining on mattress covering in rooms 914 and 809. Observed staining on couch in room 719. Observed loose toilet seat in room 1424.

Observed no sanitizer on the in-use housekeeping carts on several floors. Each guest room is supplied with multi use ice bucket with lids which require cleaning and sanitizing. **The sinks in the rooms must be cleaned and sanitized prior to cleaning and sanitizing food contact equipment. Supply each in-use housekeeping cart with dish detergent and sanitizer. 15A NCAC 18A .1824 (b) Equipment and utensils shall be kept clean and in good repair. Observed the ice machine with pink and black residue on the ice chute and the walls of the cube forms.

15A NCAC 18A .1824(i) Single-use articles may be used if discarded after each use. Single use articles may be stored and handled to prevent contamination. Observed stacks of single service plastic cups were not protected at the guest hydration station in the lobby. Provide cup dispenser to protect cups from contamination or use plastic sleeve from packaging. NO POINT DEDUCTION

This requirement shall be effective one year after the effective date of this Rule. Observed no soap and paper towels at the designated hand washing sink in the laundry room, and no hand soap or paper towels on the in-use housekeeping carts for use after handling soiled linen and before handle the clean linen.
