Inspections & violations

Inspector comments: 22) Emergency phone is able to dial 911, signage posted says select line 1 then dial 911, which also works. Discussed updating signage for easier use of picking up phone and dialing 911 without selecting line. 15) No ring buoy with rope (17 ft required length at this pool) for this small pool. Pool is in same area as large pool with body hook (only one hook for both pools) and buoy with longer rope. Discussed buoys required for separate pools with different lengths of rope. Per operator, swim instructors are provided training and there is a lifeguard variance in file for these staff to perform life saving in case of emergency. Lifeguard with rescue tube can be substituted for US Coast Guard approved ring buoy with correct rope length. Spoke with Tim Dutcher, supervisor of Mecklenburg County pool program who stated this “substitute of trained life saving personnel” is sufficient to not have buoy or required sets of lifesaving equipment at this time. Highly recommended providing extra ring buoy with required rope length (17 ft) at this pool. Inspection with John Kirk and Eric Oakley Main drains expire 2028
#16 · Premises: fence or barrier with self-closing, self-latching gates properly constructed and maintained −4
One double door not alarming or latching at time of visit. .2528(a) Ground level doors shall be self-closing, self-latching or self-closing and child protected by audible alarm. Operator corrected bell to ring.
#17 · Premises: decks unobstructed, properly drained, free of trip hazards −4
Items within 5’ of pool for swim lessons. .2522(b) Provide at least 5 ft of clear walking space around the indoor pool at all times. Operator moved items and corrected. Items used for in-use classes that can be moved in case of emergency are permitted. Items may not be stored around pool when not in use. Deck flooring cut out by small pool, less than 1/2” in offset. .2537(2) Decks shall be kept in good repair. Lack of severity does not warrant permit action at this time. Advised repairing flooring by next permitting season 2027.
